Reasonable Adjustments – FSPL Inclusive Policy
The FSPL is committed to being an inclusive league and welcomes all players, regardless of ability or disability. We believe no player should be excluded from participating in our league or competitions due to their disability.
We are working on our Reasonable Adjustment policy which we will publish shortly, if you would like to be involved in creating the policy please contact the General Secretary.
While players are not required to disclose any disability at the point of registration, they must inform the Chairman and General Secretary if they require any reasonable adjustments to support their participation in pool matches or competitions.
Reasonable Adjustments – FSPL Inclusive Policy
The FSPL is committed to being an inclusive league and welcomes all players, regardless of ability or disability. We believe no player should be excluded from participating in our league or competitions due to their disability.
While players are not required to disclose any disability at the point of registration, they must inform the Chairman and General Secretary if they require any reasonable adjustments to support their participation in pool matches or competitions. These adjustments include, but are not limited to, the following:
Shot Clock for Wheelchair Players
The shot clock for wheelchair users will follow international rules as outlined by the English Pool Association:
EPA Byelaw 20 – Wheelchair Players Classification
Use of an Advocate
Wheelchair players may use an advocate to place the cue ball (white ball) if necessary. This action must still occur within the allocated shot clock time (when in use).
Wheelchair Access to Venues
If a player is drawn to play at a venue that does not have wheelchair access, their match will be relocated to Kirkham Street, which is wheelchair accessible.
Right to Request Adjustments
Any player with a disability has the right to request changes to competition formats, match rules, or playing conditions. The Committee will review each request on a case-by-case basis and make a fair and reasonable decision.
Additional Time During League Matches
During league matches, if a player with a disability requires additional time to prepare or take a shot, this should be accommodated without question. If necessary, the match order may be adjusted (e.g., playing the next scheduled match first and returning to the delayed match later).
